Goals of Global e-vasilopita of Hellenism and Philhellenes (friends of Greece)

The goals of Global e-vasilopita are:

1. To place the global e-vasilopita of the world's Hellenism and philhellenes (friends of Greece) next to the global Santa Claus for the global promotion of Greece, of products and services of Hellenism and philhellenes which will correspond to the "Signs" of the e-vasilopita as presents,

2. To bring, in a pleasant and easy for them way, close to Greece and our customs, our traditions and the Greek language, expatriates, philhellenes and mostly the emigrant youth of the 4th and 5th generation for whom the internet constitutes an important part of their interests.

3. to spread the wonderful message that is incorporated in the way the distribution of the pieces was done …when they came back home from church at noon, the host used to cut the vasilopita and give out the pieces as follows; "The first one was for the household, the second was Santa’s, the third the hostess’, the fourth dedicated to labor (job), the rest were the members’ of the family, one for the poor and one for the foreigners" (customs Propontida-Vithynia-East Thrace)

In the e-vasilopita apart from flouria (gold coins) there are also "signs" symbols (like wheat, vine, olive leaf, pomegranate, corn, bean, cheese etc as people used to put in the traditional vasilopita in some parts of Greece, Thrace, Epirus etc) to which the presents (doroflouria) will correspond, that is presents, products, services of donor Companies, Municipalities, Associations, Retailers etc Registration for Greeks and philhellenes of any age is totally free.

The registered are divided randomly into tables (groups) of 20, so that the cutting of the e-vasilopita is done by its hosts with only and in total 20 clicks on a single knife. That is, when the first click is made, then the first person at each table gets the first piece. When the second click is made, then the second person at each table gets their piece and so on and so forth.

Flouri (coin) winners

On 21st February the day of the cutting, by logging in every registered member is placed at his table where he will get - next to his name- a virtual piece of the e-vasilopita. He will then have to click again, so that the piece turns upside-down and the member can see if he has won something.
It should be noted that the registered do not need to be online the moment of the cutting and that they can search their piece for presents at any given moment after the cutting.

The participants gathered on the same virtual table, can check out each others pieces without being noticed.

If the winner of a coin-flouri is connected online, his/her name will appear automatically, below the picture of the vasilopita.
Otherwise, his/her name will appear the day and time he/she will be connected. A week after the day of cutting, all the winner’s names will be presented, either the pieces will have been checked or not.

EXAMPLE: click on this piece, wait 4-6 sec and look ...

Each of the virtual tables consists of 20 participants. The coins are randomly distributed to the wholesale participants. The substitute coins will be as many as the coins.

Goblins and Fairies

.. we need your contribution
to reviving forgotten Greek
folk traditions, through the
e-vasilopita in the global

Who says Santa Claus is the only one trying to come down your chimney during the festive season (New Year day)?
According to Greek tradition(mythology) Goblins(Kalikantzaros) are trying to slide into homes, and instead of presents they are intent on leaving a trail of destruction!!!

Click to see dates and time Goblins and Fairies visit

How to protect your luck points from Goblins-KALIKANTZAROS.

(Image A) Before Goblins visit tables

Before Goblins visit, You can see for example the Luck points of Helen Karmen are 100.

NOTICE: If you have registered before Christmas you got 100 luck points. If you register after Christmas you got the less points any body from registered has.

(Image B) After Goblins-KALIKANTZAROS visit

In this table you can see a Goblin.
If you put your mouse over Helen Karmen' s name you can see that she has 50% points less. She had 100 points and now she has 50 points.

(Image C) The sieve

Helen Karmen has seen the Goblin in her table, She clicks on Goblin's name and then she gets (hung up) a sieve.
so Goblin gives back her luck points (100).

(Image D) Goblins have gone

Now you can see Helen Karmen's luck points are 100.
Goblins-KALIKANTZAROS and Fairies-XOTIKO appear in e-Vasilopita in order to destroy your luck at FLOURI (Gold coin). if a Goblin appears at your virtual table, then you should take a sieve by clicking the name, before it disappears, otherwise your luck points will be 50% less. if it appears at your table fairy then you should take her veil of clicking on the name, to get double luck points.
The fairies and goblins will be running from Dec 25 2011 to Feb 21 2012. This means that time you have to check very oft your virtual table.

From Iceland to Greece, goblins, are the main characters of the legends that represent the dark side of Christmas.
Goblins traditionally descend onto the human population during the last 13 nights before Christmas.
These goblins steal meat, sausages, milk and candles and play tricks as indicated by their names (Door Slammer, Sausage Pilfer, Meat Hook, Candle Beggar, etc.).
They appear on consecutive days starting from 12 December until Christmas Eve (or from Dec 25 to Jan 6).

The Kallikatzaros of Greece are ugly hairy goblins of varying sizes, half animal and half human, with long tails and goat legs.
They live under the ground and are busy all year round sawing away at the Big Tree that holds the Earth. But just as when the Tree is about to fall off, itΆs Christmas season and the kallikatzaroi surface to cause mischief to the humans.
